Great location, lovely village, comfortable cottage. We stayed in Scafell with a large group of both friends and family, and the weather was glorious! After a day's walking on the fells we enjoyed a barbeque dinner most evenings in the lovely garden, by the river. One day we even walked further up the valley and took a quick dip in the River Esk – it was the perfect way to cool down on a hot day! There was plenty to do for the children too and they loved going up and down the valley on the La'al Ratty steam train. Enjoyed a hearty meal at the Brook House Inn down the road, and sampled the local ales. Wouldn't mind returning for the Boot Beer festival next year. The cottage is full of beams, very well equipped and the open plan layout was perfect for our group.
